Software as a Subscription Service

March 4th, 2008

Finally Microsoft enters into ASP model. You need not buy your license for some of the softwares like Exchange server, Sharepoint etc. You can pay per month and use it. At present its in Beta, as every one keeps their buggy applications in the name of Beta! :-)

You can visit it at http://www.mosbeta.com.

At the SharePoint Conference in Redmond,Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates announced Microsoft Online Services, he said that the businesses can now deploy software as a subscription service, from servers they manage on-site or that others manage. He added that this choice is being added to all of Microsoft’s products. Google is already this online services, which Microsoft considers as a key competitor in search, advertising and now online business services. Google has already released online services for businesses, consumer groups and others.

Anyhow its a good step from Microsoft, you can access them with your Linux desktop.
